The Association of Business Women in Commerce & Industry launched its Nigerian Chapter on Sunday, 24th October 2021. The president of the Nigerian Chapter, Ayodeji Megbope in her welcome address stated that ABWCI is a global organization whose aim is to nurture and provide an enabling environment for women in business to build a sustainable and better future. Their growing global footprint is firmly implanted in 17 countries and spans across Asia, Africa, Europe, North America and Latin America.

The association is passionate about providing solutions to the challenges that women in business face which include access to finance, access to markets, access to technology and access to an entrepreneurial ecosystem for businesses to thrive.

ABWCI’s vision is to help women in business have access to global opportunities through the extensive network they have built in different countries. They also will support women in business to build capacity for global markets and business expansion through webinars, talk shows, mentoring opportunities webinars, masterclasses and help them obtain certifications where necessary.

The Secretary General of ABWCI, Parul Soni, highlighted the fact that ABWCI is building a global marketplace where businesses from different parts of the world can sell their products and services and get paid without hassles. He stressed the need for women entrepreneurs to be wealth creators because “when you give jobs to women, children will be educated, and families will flourish”.

Shamli Seth, the CEO of ABWCI praised the Nigerian Chapter for being the second-largest chapter in the organization since inception. She reiterated the mission of ABWCI to develop an equitable ecosystem that identifies, engages, leverages and creates networks. To provide a level of transparency and trust, every ABWCI member must be a verified/registered business.
